About

Malena.

Drawn to what lingers.

To what remains long
after the moment has passed.

To what resists explanation.

The works presented here
are not observations.

They are traces.

What appears here is only
one part of that world.

About

What matters most
is rarely seen all at once.

What remains unseen
often carries the
greatest weight.

This space reveals
only a selection.

The rest remains private.

Presence cannot be accumulated.
Only encountered.

For me, painting is not about subject, nor about likeness. I watch, for a long time, how light falls on things and slowly leaves — and I try to hold exactly that on the canvas: not the object, but its presence.

I lay down layer after layer, and often erase what I have made. Depth does not come from the amount of paint, but from the time spent beside the work. When the canvas finally falls quiet and asks for nothing more — it is finished.

I do not need a painting to prove anything. Let it simply hold the light — quietly, the way old walls hold the warmth of a day that has gone.

I depict nothing. I leave light on the canvas.

The Work, in Person

Some things remain exactly where they belong. In the space they were meant for. In the light they were painted for. In the silence they require.

What appears here is only a trace. The encounter itself cannot be transferred. Only experienced.
